What we collect

We do not require accounts and we do not run contact forms that send data to our servers. The postcard tool works entirely in your browser. If you email us, we receive your email address, name and whatever you choose to write. Our hosting provider may record standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and reliability.

Why we use it

We use emails only to reply to you and improve our guide, based on our legitimate interest in answering readers. Server logs are used to keep the site secure and working.

How long we keep it

We keep correspondence for up to 24 months, then delete it unless needed for an ongoing conversation. Server logs are kept for no more than 30 days.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who host our site or email, under contracts that protect it, or where required by law.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may request access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to or restrict processing, and request portability. Email us to make a request. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
